How To Prepare For Your Facial Appointment
Preparing your skin properly before a facial can help maximize your results and make your treatment more effective. Whether it’s your first facial or part of your regular self care routine, arriving with clean skin allows treatments and products to work more efficiently while minimizing unnecessary irritation or sensitivity.
A few days before your appointment, try to avoid over exfoliating or introducing strong active ingredients that your skin may not be used to. Products containing strong exfoliating acids, or aggressive scrubs can leave the skin more sensitive during treatment. If you use these products regularly, your esthetician may recommend pausing them several days before your appointment depending on the type of facial you are receiving.
If you are currently using prescription acne medications, Tretinoin, Retinol, or higher-strength Retin-A products, certain facial treatments or exfoliation services may need to be adjusted or postponed to avoid excessive skin sensitivity, irritation, or damage to the skin barrier. When using Tretinoin or prescription medications, they will have to be paused for 6months to 1 year.
If this is your first facial, it is completely normal to feel unsure about what to expect. Facials are not meant to feel intimidating, they are designed to help improve skin health while also creating a relaxing self care experience. During your appointment, I will evaluate your skin concerns, discuss your goals, and customize the treatment based on your skin’s current condition and needs.
